The countryside of northwestern North Carolina and southwestern Virginia is mostly rural. Winding, two-lane roads cut through rolling hills dotted with barns, farm houses, churches, Christmas tree farms, grassy hay fields and sometimes pumpkins. Fall brings color to the countryside. Some years have more than others, and folks come from all over to take it in. Locals call them leaf peepers, or sometimes just peepers.
This scene is somewhere in the northwestern corner of North Carolina or it could have been over the state line in Virginia. I wasn't paying too much attention to road names. Mostly I was just driving and enjoying the view. I was looking for patches of color and something to photograph. I liked the light playing on the land, the pumpkin patch and the red barn. To me it captures the area in fall.
