Snowy Egrets had a group of mullet cornered during falling tide on a sand flat near a local inlet. There must have been seven or eight egrets and 50 or more mullet. It was a flurry of activity. The snowys ran across the flat, some flew short distances, they darted left and right, and they jabbed at the water with hopes of catching their next meal. The mullet used all of their defenses to escape. The bunched together then scattered just before the egret was within rage, they jumped into the air, and they did it all so quickly that many evaded capture. At times, some of the egrets looked unsure about which mullet to pursue and which way to go. Almost as quickly as the feeding frenzy started, it was over. The egrets caught their share and the mullets found their way to deeper water where they were out of reach.
