I like to explore, have new experiences, see new places, learn, and grow as I do it. And I love the coast no matter where it is. The coast of Italy is just such a place to explore, experience, and learn. I've been to the coast of Italy before, but never the southern coast so I’m visiting the Amalfi coast. At the edge of the Tyrrhenian Sea and known for its lemons and for fresh seafood, the Amalfi coast is a colorful, 50km stretch of southern Italy.
Lemons are everywhere. You can find them in ravioli, seafood dishes, beverages, all sorts of deserts, artwork, ceramics, and just about anywhere else you can imagine. And look to the countryside and you'll see them growing everywhere. I’ll have to say that lemons from the Amalfi coast are superb. There is a fresh brightness and vibrance to their flavor, how a lemon should taste. They are much better than those we get on the central Atlantic coast of the US where I live and where lemons are brought in from places far and wide. And seafood was on nearly every menu. Sardines and sea bass were common. Cod was also popular, but not fresh this time of year. Shrimp and langoustines, squid and octopus rounded out the seafood.
