On my recent trip to the Grand Canyon I was searching for the grand vista, the one photo that said it all. I quickly realized that such a photo is challenging at best. It's hard to capture the depth, breadth, scale and awe of the place. I abandoned the notion of capturing a single photo and focused on the light as it struck the canyon's features. The photo above was sunrise and the first light to strike to the mid-canyon features. One thing is for certain: there are many places from which to view the Grand Canyon; each is different and none are bad.
