I've been photographing Blacks Skimmers lately. They nest on the south end of my home beach. Other than the difficulty in finding a parking place, they are generally accessible. Photos of adults with chicks are great and I have hundreds. Various behaviors such as courtship and other nesting activities are fairly easy to come by with patience. But I love skimmers in flight. Whether its skimmers skimming, adults bringing fish to the colony, aerial disputes or these graceful seabirds simply on the wing, I will never pass up the opportunity to point my camera in their direction. Over the next week or so I am going to post a few of the photos I like. I hope you like them too!
